All about my Academics

This section describes my life as a student and attempts to put into perspective the achievements, shortcomings during the 16+ years of education.

First things first I never was, am, will consider myself a good student. Although the marks I got during my bachelors degree and pre-university education may seem to suggest otherwise my personal opinion of this anomaly is that the scores, marks etc I got are extremely inflated, flattering and deceiving (and no, this is not an attempt at being humble just plain honesty).

History

My earliest years as a student started off at Pestallozzi School (A Rich Kid's play home located on Lavelle road which according to my parents explains why I turned out to be a spoilt brat that i am). I did my pre-schooling there and as can be expected, I don't remember much about my time there.

The next 7 years (Primary and middle school years) were spent in Home School. It is/was a lovely, cozy little school of 30 students per class, located in Basavanagudi and was a stone's throw away from my house. Thoughts about Home School bring back mostly fond memories and I become very nostalgic when I think about my time there when life was so carefree. Boy what would i give to get those times back.

After getting pretty good marks in my 7 std (almost everyone does), an obvious choice for a High School was Vijaya High School given the awesome reputation it had for churning out rank students during the SSLC exam. Sadly i must admit that my 3 years during High School wasn't the best phase of my life so far when nothing seemed to be going right for me either in school or in the pool. It is a time in my past i have put behind me. Bright spots include receiving the 'Mr Sports of the Year' award during the tenth standard and playing for the school cricket team indifferent tournaments.

To cap things off i did terribly in my SSLC exam and was left with little choice concerning the Pre-University college i could join (PCMB was the course i wished to take). So i joined Kumarans College (Sri Kumarans Children's Home Composite Pre-University College to be exact) which in hindsight was the best decision i took. At this point life began to look up especially in the swimming front where my transition from a Swimmer to a Waterpolo player resulted in immediate success and several memorable experiences. This is turn caused me to be very casual in my studies and hence i barely attended college during my PU years, often globe trotting (actually nation trotting) from one place to another to participate in National Aquatic meets.

A fairly good performance in my PU Board exams and CET gave me the luxury of choosing course and college from several top colleges in Karnataka. At counseling time, i had a choice to make between RVCE (Info Sc) and BMSCE (Comp Sc). I am extremely glad i chose the latter. Reasons for which are plenty.

If i were to describe the Computer Science Department of BMS College of Engineering in one word then "bindaas" would be most apt. It is this reason mainly that i loved life here. The independence we get here is just awesome. Doing your BE in Comp Sc at BMSCE will give you the necessary confidence to take on the world rather than if you did it at some other college where students are spoon fed everything from A-Z. To sum things up .... Life at BMS is a soopperr experience.

This was how i spent the 16+ years of (supposed) education.

Future

Higher education was on the cards although nothing was concrete at the start of this website creation but at this point of time, i am pleased to inform you that i intend to continue my studies and will be going to the US to pursue a masters degree in Computer and Information Science (MCIS) from Cleveland State University in Cleveland, Ohio. I have secured admission as an international student for the MCIS program starting in the Fall 2004 semester (this August).

One of the regrets i have in life is not being able to keep in touch with my ex-classmates. I have always moved onto newer friends everytime i moved between institutions with only my swimming pool friends being a constant. The people i have managed to keep in touch with from my primary, middle and high school and also PU college days are few (mainly people who are studied with me now in BMS). I would surely love to get re-acquainted to any of my long lost friends. If you happen to be one such person please please do get in touch with me. I would love the opportunity to see how you are faring and how life has treated you over these years.
