Birthday Blog
Today is my birthday. I am officially 23 years old now. Its the first time i'm spending it in a country outside my own. I'm at my sister's house in columbus spending the weekend getting some needed rest from a long week at work and quiet away from the noise and excitement generated in my apartment room.
I got the usual set of birthday wishes calls. Most people that i had expected to call did, while some didnt (hmphh) and more suprisingly people i had expected to forget, actually didnt and actually wished me online or send me an offline msg or something like that.
As for how i spend the day, well my sister and bhaiyaa took me out for lunch to the famous BD's Mongolian Barbeque. It was really good. The place is an "all-you-can-eat, create-your-own stir-fry" place.
Basically there is a huge menu of vegetarian and non-vegetarian food in raw state. And you can pick and choose whatever meat, seafood, vegetable, sause and spice you want and then watch as the chef prepares it right in from of your eyes.
Being my birthday, i was given the choice of choosing between the mongolian barbeque and HomeTown Buffet.Being a huge sea food fan, i choose the former. And i totally loved it. We had worked up a good appetite having spent the good part of the morning planting tomatoes and chilli in the backyard garden of my sisters house.
My sister enjoyed it too, and with the added appetite of my little neice, my sister went strong. The biggest thing about the place is the ability to tailor the ingredients to suit your taste. Not that i had a clue what i was putting into my food. From what i remember i added pretty much everything i could decipher as an ingredient i knew of and topped it off with lots of wine.Sea food and wine .. good combo i must say!!!
Since we were in Dublin OH, We then went out for ice cream to the famous Graeters.I had their most famous ice cream [The 1870 Tower] and it was rich and tasted incredible. Perfect dessert to end a sinful lunch.
Later that evening we killed time at Sai's house (my brother in law's friend) and he had a barbeque party. I managed to watch the enthralling NBA playoffs game 3 between the Detroit Pistons and Miami Heat.
I got back to find a number of missed calls on my cellphone and most of them were from India. I dutifully returned the calls and then got ready to retire for the day, but not before i pen this blog. Suprisingly one of the highlights of the day was the planting of the new saplings (tomatoes and chilli). Since i had never done any serious gardening (Expect for water the plants in the garden), digging and planting was an interesting experience. Its indeed suprising how it seemed like planting a new plant felt like giving birth to new life or maybe its just a silly thought i'm having since its my birthday n all.
All in a all a nice birthday (quiet one though), definelty a far cry from the usual monotonous 12') Clock birthday routine in my apartment complex in Cleveland. Mercifully i had been spared that agony. With long weekend (tommorow is Memorial Day) thoughts of not having to get up early and get to work are what leave me before i'm off to wonderland.
