Weekend of parties
I just got back to cleveland. Hitched a ride back with Ram and Padma. All three days of the weekend was filled with parties/events. It started off with my sister's birthday on friday. Followed up with a satyanarayana puja at rajni and sunanditha's house where sunanditha had to live up to her tag of expert host with unmatched culinary skills and she did not dissapoint even keeping with the restriction that the occassion demanded vegetarian food. Finally we had a get together party (barbeque party) at paul's place. The barbeque went good. The 'vadas' and corn hit the spot and went fast with everyone. This is one of the last few weekends before ram moves to atlanta and so emotions were tangible and hard to hide amongst the guys. As would be expected, nostalgia was thick in the air.
Played Golf
In the evening, all the guys went to the driving range to play golf. It was good fun and i enjoyed it. Being my first time ever on a golf course, my shots were as one would expect, mis directed and mistimed. The enormous effect of cricket swing and technique showed in the golf swings of me and my bro (it was his first time as well). For instance, in cricket when we loft the ball, we tend to make room with our leading foot and shift body weight towards the other direction. For a golf swing, this technique is a massacre of conventional golf swing technique. It then shouldn't be a suprise that the balls went everywhere but straight. I can recollect only one shot which i managed to keep in the vicinity of the target. Overall i had good fun. Now I have a better feel of what the heck guys feel towards golf, a game till this point i desisted as boring and painful.
And so a weekend of parties came to an end. It back to the grind and a monday morning for me and the rest of the world. Ho boy, if only weekends lasted longer (i'd settle for forever !!!). I'll try and post pictures next weekend after i pick them off my sister's digital camera.
